With a clear focus on social, ecological, and financial sustainability, Sequoia has implemented practices that go far beyond green production. From equal pay policies and inclusive leadership structures to vegetarian catering, electric cars, and lean business models – every decision reflects their core value: “inherited value to all life.”

In this case study, you'll hear how the team behind the successful series "Sommerdahl Murders" (TV2 Denmark / ZDF) created a work culture where people feel valued – and where sustainability isn’t an add-on, but the foundation.

Their approach proves that long-term success and ethical production standards can go hand in hand – even in a fast-paced industry.

In this case study, Rico Johnson-Sinclair explores "Portrait of Jason", Shirley Clarke’s groundbreaking documentary from 1967. The film captures the story of Jason Holliday – a gay, African-American performer – in an unfiltered, intimate way that challenged cinematic conventions and gave space to a rarely seen perspective.

With a critical DEI lens, the case study examines the film’s cultural significance, its raw portrayal of vulnerability, and the ethical questions raised by the filmmakers’ methods. It’s a bold example of representation – and of the responsibility that comes with it.

Participants from countries that are not part of European Union's MEDIA initiative may still be viable for a scholarship depending on their participation in the MEDIA strand. These countries include: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Republic of Serbia and Ukraine.

We encourage all applicants to seek financial support with their national/regional funding bodies.
