Overview

Financial controllers, production accountants, payroll clerks, and administrative staff are important positions for a production.

For many reasons, the availability of qualified, experienced individuals in the field of Production Accounting at all levels is severely limited in the DACH market. With the workshop Production Accounting we now aim to address the skills shortage specifically in the finance sector of series and film productions.

A targeted training programme is offered that adequately prepares participants for their respective future roles in Production Accounting, in the areas of bookkeeping, management accounting, financing, and software. is conveyed.

Requirements:

  • Experience or relevant qualifications in finance, economics, accounting, or production sciences, or a comparable commercial training
  • or career changers from the fields of accounting, tax, or other financial areas
  • or career changers from other areas of film production
  • numerical affinity and structured, organised, responsible teamwork are required

After studying British and American Studies and Sociology, as well as gaining experience in other industries, Lisa-Marie Rühl began her professional career in production. Initially in advertising, then freelancing across the non-fiction, series, and feature film sectors. Since May 2019, she has been part of the Production Management Team at Netflix and has collaborated with numerous German-speaking and international teams in this role. She is actively involved in several networks focusing on sustainability and social inequality and is the contact person and initiator of the German sustainability initiative at Netflix.

Ulla Symanzik (M.A.) - after initial professional positions in accounting at production companies in Cologne, she was employed from 2000 to 2015 at Sony Pictures Film and Television Production GmbH as Finance Director, where she led the Production Accounting department and was responsible for corporate reporting. Since 2015, she has been working freelance as a managing director of film and oversees productions for various broadcasters and streaming services.

Wassili Zygouris studied Film Studies at Mainz. Since 2003, he has been working as a freelance Line Producer and Production Manager in the film industry. He has contributed to international feature films such as Inglorious Basterds, The International, The Book Thief, and in recent years has managed successful series projects like Dogs of Berlin, Sloeborn (Season 1), Paradiso, and Crooks.
