The Winterclass Serial Writing and Producing is entering its next round: as of today, you can apply for the 2026 edition. This continuing education programme, run jointly by Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF and the Erich Pommer Institut, is aimed at film and television professionals who want to deepen their expertise in writing and producing series, engaging with both the creative and the business side of the industry.

Across two modules, the Winterclass covers the business of quality drama, international co-production and distribution, as well as hands-on writers' room practice, from contract design to showrunning:
Module 1 – Serial Business
Producing quality drama for free and pay TV, financing and international co-production, distribution, sales and pitching, showrunning.
Module 2 – Serial Practice
Practical writers' room methodology, contract design in the writers' room, European and German writers' room models, developing internationally — challenges and opportunities, German showrunning.
Head of Studies
Nadine Lewerenz accompanies you through the programme as Head of Studies of the Winterclass. She curates the programme content, drawing on her own experience as a producer and writer.
Funding opportunities
Applications for funding must be submitted independently — EPI cannot process applications on your behalf or guarantee approval, but is happy to advise on suitable programmes. Important: almost every funding programme requires the application to be submitted before you commit to enrolment and before the course begins — retroactive funding is generally not possible (with the exception of North Rhine-Westphalia). As confirmation of your place is expected in early October 2026, leaving only around six weeks before Module 1 begins, we recommend arranging funding consultations already during the application period.
